News of the Week
Building Our Team
Our first few days together were fun, fruitful and insightful. Kerry and I were both blown away by the incredible comments we heard during our team building activities. Be sure to ask your kiddo about the Zoom! activity, where students had to organize pictures from a book. It led kids to realize that everyone plays a role in our classroom and that no matter how small you feel--you're important! Erin led us through some fun activities in the garden to make sure we ready for our first O&A on Tuesday. And, we did another activity which helped us realize our actions have lasting impacts on others. Ask about how we marked the mini-mes. Team building will play a big the role the next few weeks, but we'll do community building activities all year.
Binders, Classroom Economy and Bridges
- Students were excited to get and build their binders. Be sure to have a look through them with your kiddo. I was impressed to see many kids using the agendas correctly--be sure to check it each weekday with your child. We'll add some other handouts to them this week.
- Classroom Economy will be kicking off this week with kids applying for jobs within the classroom. Most kids have their brainstorm finished, so they'll be applying to the online application on Tuesday.
- And, we did some looking at bridges! Kids posed some very interesting questions, which they'll hopefully be able to answer as the unit progresses. And, we did a bridge lab that had us look at tension, compression and the strongest shapes in bridge building!
Outdoor School
