Conference Wrap Up
I enjoyed over hearing students talk about their learning. It isn't easy saying what we're proud of or to admit what we need to put more energy towards. But, getting students comfortable with this now is such an advantage! If you feel like you didn't get a complete picture or wanted to see my feedback, just reach out!
Literacy
A highlight was checking out the library to see resources available to us, patrons. Merlins scanned and read books to get some background information on their civilization for their upcoming research project. Also, huge shout-out to the Merlins who are working so hard on their state tests! I am so proud of their diligence and perseverance!
Ask what civilization are you planning to research?
Talk about what resources are available to you at the library.
Extend the learning to use the library or plan for summer reading programs!
Project
We explored how a timeline works in a very hands-on game placing major events on a timeline. Students had to try and locate the correct time and civilization.
Ask, how does a timeline work in terms of BCE and CE?
Talk about how the USA compares to other civilizations.
Extend the learning to support your kiddo on his/her Geek Out.
6th Grade Math
The sixth graders were excited to wrap up the probability and percent unit. We'll move into statistics where we get out of the classroom to create a data set to look at a variety of skills!
Ask, how does the percent on your test relate to probability!
Talk about how the USA compares to other civilizations.
Extend the learning to talk about probability with games you play at home.
5th Grade Math
We finished working on our coordinate plane projects, and shared our art puzzles and games on Wednesday. It is fun to see student creativity in the math room. Next up, order of operations!
Ask, which of your classmates' projects inspired you most?
Talk about how your student participates during warm-ups!
